In an outstanding example of cross-unit collaboration that has benefited both the Institute and potential students, members of the E-communication and Event Team at the Communications Office partnered with colleagues in three faculties responsible for programme marketing activities to develop a marketing plan for campus tours targeting DSE students. Shifting away from the previously decentralised marketing approach with its duplication of effort and resources, the team devised a plan that drew on inputs from the Communications Office, faculty marketing teams, programme leaders and student ambassadors.
The team developed a platform that would provide DSE students with unified information about the Institute’s programme offerings, along with an experience of HKIEd learning and teaching, before making JUPAS choices. Critical to achieving that aim was the determination of all team members to find ways to reallocate existing resources and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of promotional efforts.
Through their outstanding cooperation and foresight, the team ensured that all new campus tours would benefit from focused pre-event publicity targeting around the school principals and career masters of secondary schools, and would feature revamped itineraries, collaterals and post-event evaluation. The evaluation mechanism is particularly important, ensuring quality control and allowing the team to give feedback on specific messages tailored to individual schools and students, among other things. The team has also worked hard to brief, groom and coach student ambassadors to represent the Institute and the unique learning experience it offers through personal sharing.
With the dedicated efforts of this forward-looking team, the Institute community is set to welcome many more DSE students on campus visits in the years to come.
