Dr Eric YUAN Rui

Dr Yuan Rui’s research interests lie in language teacher preparation and development, teacher identity, action research, and teacher educators in higher education.
As the Principal Investigator, Dr Yuan secured the Early Career Scheme (ECS) funding from the Research Grants Council (RGC) in 2016. His project ‘Towards an understanding of EFL teacher educators’ expertise in Hong Kong’ seeks to examine how language teacher educators construct their professional expertise and promote language teacher development in Hong Kong.
Since joining the University in 2015, Dr Yuan has been actively engaged in academic research and publishing. He has published over 10 research papers in well-recognized international journals such as Teaching and Teacher Education, Teachers and Teaching, Journal of Education for Teaching, TESOL Quarterly and ELT Journal.
Over the past two years, Dr Yuan has delivered over 10 academic seminars and workshops in different universities in both Hong Kong and Mainland China. Recently, he has been appointed as a part-time research fellow at the Center of Applied Linguistics at Chongqing University in Mainland China, where he will provide research consultation and support for the university staff.
