Dr. HO Wing Kei, Keith 何詠基博士
Associate Professor, Department of Science and Environmental Studies
Dr HO Wing Kei, Keith has wide research interests, including environmental remediation, nanotechnology, solar photocatalysis, air pollution control, indoor air quality and science education.
As Principal Investigator, Dr Ho has secured more than HK$11 million in research funding, including a grant from the Early Career Scheme (ECS) in 2013/14 and one from the General Research Fund (GRF) of the Research Grants Council in 2017/18. Dr Ho has also contributed to large collaborative research projects. In 2016, he was invited by the Chinese Academy of Sciences to be a key project member and co-investigator to participate in a large collaborative project in the National Key Research and Development Program of China, with funding of RMB19 million from the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People´s Republic of China. The aim of the five-year project is to improve the air quality of China through the development of new nanotechnology.
Dr Ho is an active and promising researcher with an h-index of 58. He has published over 125 international journal articles since 2001 and has been cited 12,600 times in other papers. In the past three years, he published 48 international journal articles, almost half of them ranked in the top 5% in their respective disciplines. In 2018, Dr Ho was named among the “Highly Cited Researchers 2018”, placing him among the world’s top researchers. He was the first and still only scholar in EdUHK to obtain this prestigious honour. His research on Novel Air Purifiers won the Gold Medal at the International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada. These awards recognize Dr Ho’s vital role in improving society through his innovative research and his significant contribution to academia.
Dr Ho is also committed to enhancing the research environment in EdUHK. As Associate Head (Research and Laboratory Management), Dr. Ho has led the lab support team in providing lab services and setting regulations for equipment utilization. The new safety policies have ensured a safe research environment for staff and students.
Dr. Ho is also devoted to professional service and giving back to society with his expertise. He currently serves on eight international editorial boards and has been appointed panel adjudicator in different science project competitions. He was also appointed Adjunct Professor by Xi’an Jiaotong Univeristy and the Institute of Earth Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China.
