Dr Anthony SUEN Chun-kit
孫俊傑博士
Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics and Information Technology

Dr SUEN Chun Kit’s research interests focus on existence theory and the large-time behaviour of solutions in certain systems of partial differential equations (PDE).

In the capacity of Principal Investigator, Dr Suen secured two General Research Fund (GRF) funding grants from the Research Grants Council in the past three years. Centred on forced active scalar equations, his projects have greatly contributed to the field of theoretical mathematics and fostered international collaboration between EdUHK, the University of Southern California, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

In the past three years, Dr Suen had a remarkable performance in the field of mathematical theory. He published 12 journal articles in reputable journals that ranked in the top five per cent in SJR 2022, such as the Journal of Differential Equations, the Archive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis, and the Annals of PDE. His publication quality is especially impressive in the area of partial differential equations, with one of his articles receiving 78 citations.

Dr Suen’s commitment to international academia is manifested in his active participation in the community. For example, since 2018, he has been a reviewer for articles in top-tier journals, including the Journal of Differential Equations, the Archive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis, and Communications on Pure and Applied Mathematics. He has been frequently invited to speak at various local and international seminars and conferences, such as the Harmonic Analysis and PDE Seminar, organized by City University of New York, and the CUHK Mathematics Alumni International Conference, organised by the Department of Mathematics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

At EdUHK, Dr Suen has shown his dedication to engaging in collegial research. In 2021, he co-organised and hosted the Symposium on PDEs 2021. Building on the success of this event, Dr Suen plans to make it an annual platform for international exchange of mathematical research results. Dr Suen is also committed to the development of his department and to the discipline of mathematics. He hosted the MIT Summer Short Course on Calculus, which has over 300 applicants every year. In 2021, he was nominated as the Associate Head (Research) of the Department of MIT in recognition of his contribution.
