Professor WANG Wen-chung

Professor Wang Wen Chung’s major research interests include Rasch measurement, item response theory, computerised adaptive testing, cognitive diagnosis modelling and psychometrics.

Since 2012, Professor Wang has been awarded four Research Grants Council (RGC) General Research Fund (GRF) projects in the capacity of Principle Investigator, with total funding of over HK$2.6 million. Since 2013, he has published 27 articles in prestigious refereed journals, 6 of which were published in A*-ranked journals and 12 in A-ranked journals.

Professor Wang was a member of the 2014 Class of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Fellows. The programme honours education researchers with substantial research accomplishments, conveys the Association’s commitment to excellence in research and emphasises the importance of sustaining excellent research in the field.

As a senior researcher, Professor Wang has been actively collaborating with and supporting the Institute’s junior staff and graduate students to submit grant applications and journal publications. He is highly devoted to knowledge transfer and professional service, delivering plenary speeches at international conferences, serving as a council member of professional societies, an associate editor for two journals, an editorial board member for seven journals and an external reviewer for thesis examinations and research grant applications, participating in faculty recruitment and promotion, serving as an external assessor of departments and research centres, and co-authoring or co-editing books and book chapters.

As the Director of the Assessment Research Centre (ARC) from 2009 to 2015, Professor Wang is dedicated to promoting the Centre’s international research leadership. Since 2013, the ARC has joined the International Research Networks, World Education Research Association. The ARC has collaborated with scholars inside and outside the Institute, and has been connected with a number of international research centres and institutions. The ARC successfully organised conferences in 2013 and 2014, attracting participants from around the world, including the USA, mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau.
