Dr JIANG Da’s research interests include emotion of aging and the role of social engagement on well-being across the lifespan.

As Principal Investigator, Dr Jiang secured a General Research Fund (GRF) grant and Early Career Scheme (ECS) funding from the Research Grants Council in the past three years. Her research has made a significant theoretical contribution towards understanding age-related differences in well-being in solitude by clarifying their underlying mechanisms from the perspectives of emotional goals. Dr Jiang also received a Collaborative Research Fund (CRF) grant as a Co-PI to investigate the effectiveness of three community interventions on decreasing loneliness among older adults who live alone during the pandemic.

Dr Jiang’s record of research publications is also impressive, as she published 17 refereed journal articles in the past three years. Most of her work was published in JCR Q1 journals, including prestigious and top-tiered journals such as The Gerontologist, and the Journal of Gerontology: Psychological Sciences. Her work has made significant theoretical and practical contributions in the areas of emotion and the psychology of aging. In 2020, Dr Jiang’s academic achievements were recognised by being selected as a Rising Star of the Association for Psychological Science (APS).

At EdUHK, Dr Jiang has shown her dedication to engaging in collegial research and curriculum development. She has taken up a number of research positions in the University, such as Centre Fellow of the Integrated Centre for Wellbeing (i-WELL) and the Centre for Psychosocial Health (CPH). She has also taken a leading role in course review exercises and curriculum development.

Dr Jiang has been actively engaged in serving the community with her research outcomes. She has been invited by schools and organizations to deliver talks about emotion regulation and well-being in older adulthood. She is also devoted to developing e-learning materials to promote healthy ageing and well-being, including the Learning to Evaluation Evidence for Policy (LEEP) website of Australian National University, a website that provides information on data sets on aging and culture, and a teaching, package to improve intercultural sensitivity.
